There are many different species of trees around the world. The wide variety allows for even more options regarding color, texture, and grain when it comes to wood flooring. By definition, exotic wood floors are made of hardwood types that do not grow naturally in the United States and therefore must be imported.

There are many different places in the world that exotic wood flooring is derived from. Trees commonly used grown in different parts of Asia, Australia, South America, and Africa.

Exotic wood mahogany flooring types include Honduran, Santos, and Royal.

Cherry hardwood floor variations are very extensive and include Patagonian, Caribbean, and Aztec varieties.

Exotic maple includes Brazilian and Patagonian.

Chestnut flooring types consist of southern and Brazilian.

There are many other exotic wood floor choices from Brazil including ebony, pine, teak, and olivewood.

When purchasing exotic wood floors products, be sure that your supplier is reputable since different manufacturing standards may be used. Also, to assure that the color and texture are exactly what you want be sure to request several samples that are the actual exotic floor material.
